Sustainability at GlobeAir

Our commitment to the environment

We cannot ignore the fact that our actions have a direct impact on the planet. Working on attenuating the effects of our behaviours is a top priority for society as a whole. As a private jet operator, we are conscious of the status of the environment and committed to doing our part. #WeArePlanetA is our journey towards tackling the sustainability discourse at GlobeAir.

We know how important it is to comply with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals and will strive to reach our sustainability goals by 2030 as well as fitting into the three-tiered sustainability label called S.T.A.R.S. - “Standards & Training for Aviation Responsibility and Sustainability”. To achieve all of the above, we also have set up a sustainability committee within GlobeAir including representatives from all of the company's core business units.

Introducing #WeArePlanetA

We plan to address the environmental issue with a holistic approach looking at every relevant aspect of our company which could make improvements when it comes to sustainability.

Specifically, we focus on offering carbon offset programmes for our passengers to offset their carbon footprint when they fly private. Our fly conscious programme will address the use of paper, plastic on-board and crew transfers. Fly smart is our constant strive towards using AI and cutting-edge technology software to make sure that our routes are the smartest, hence saving time and fuel. We work closely with remarkable partners like EBAA, carbon connect and Air BP to make sure that our strategy is aligned.

1. Fly greener • Carbon offset programmes with GlobeAir

Fly private and minimize your toll on the environment

We partner with the Swiss company carbon connect AG to offer you the possibility to reduce your carbon footprint whenever you board a private jet with GlobeAir.

We have developed a carbon offsetting compensation scheme for you to select the most suitable option according to your degree of involvement. At the end of the month, you will receive a certificate symbolising your commitment; we also provide a yearly update on the project* you helped us support.

Fly neutral

Choose to compensate for the entire carbon emissions of your private jet flight with GlobeAir. The "fly neutral" calculation comes to € 33 per flight hour.

Fly positive

Choose to donate 50% more than the full compensation of your GlobeAir private jet flight’s carbon emissions. The "fly positive" calculation comes to € 50 per flight hour.

Fly double neutral

Choose to go the extra mile and compensate for double the carbon emissions of your private jet flight with GlobeAir. The "fly double neutral" calculation comes to € 66 per flight hour.

A tangible way to appreciate your contributions

1. Forest Conservation Project in Brazil

The Portel-Pará REDD Project aims at reducing deforestation in Brazil's Amazon Rainforest. The project comprises over 130,000 hectares of the rainforest; its scope is to avoid the production of over 10 million tonnes of carbon dioxide over the next 40 years.

The project's medium-term goal is to allow forest regeneration, thus increasing the amount of carbon sequestered in the forest. The Amazon is known for its incredible biodiversity, and is home to more than 10% of all the planet’s species. Unfortunately, from being more than 60 million square kilometres of untouched nature, today only 20% of its original size remains. The project fulfils the following UN sustainable development goals (SDGS) : Climate Action, Life on Land and Decent Work and Economic Growth.

2. Combustible mine gas degassing project in North Rhine Westphalia

Degassing of combustible mine gas is a necessity due to safety concerns for the miners in active coal mining and, moreover, it is an unavoidable occurrence in abandoned mines. After shutting down many mining activities in the Ruhr Valley, "Coal Mine Methane" (CMM) still escapes over the years through open shafts, cracks and existing degassing wells (in the overburden) and, thus, seeps directly or diffusely into the atmosphere. The primary objective of this project is the voluntary reduction of anthropogenic Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions to the atmosphere through the productive use of CMM for energy production.

2. Fly Conscious • Plastic-free cockpit and paperless boarding

Our concrete actions towards a more sustainable flying experience

From the beginning of 2020, we have started to reduce our plastic on board.

Our catering department is replacing all plastic cups with biodegradable ones. Also, when you book a private jet flight with GlobeAir, you don't need to print out any document. You will receive your booking confirmation by email and this is all you need to show when boarding.

3. Fly smart • Strategic planning thanks to AI

We use technology to bring you to your destination in the most efficient way

With the help of strategic flight planning, we are able to calculate the most efficient way for you to reach your destinations in time and hassle-free. Showing up for your flight with no delay as well as avoiding last-minute changes to your schedule will also contribute to a more sustainable flight plan, hence less waste.
