The impact of strikes on travel plans
A case study based on our own experience
Strikes can significantly impact travellers and the travel industry, as demonstrated by a recent event we hosted in Paris.
Despite careful planning and preparation, some attendees could not attend due to cancelled flights on the day of departure from destinations such as Munich and Nice. Even during the event, multiple attendees had their return flights cancelled, causing stress and frustration.
To make matters worse, for the return flight home, some of our team members faced a three-hour delay that caused them to miss their connecting flight. The airline offered to cover an overnight stay at a nearby hotel in Frankfurt, but it was little comfort to our exhausted and anxious team members.
The next day, the situation went from bad to worse. The flight meant to connect our team members to their home base was cancelled, leaving them stranded with no clear way home. With no other option, they decided to fly to a different destination and rent a car to drive back home - a gruelling journey that took them hours and left them feeling drained and frustrated.
